The CPCS Red Card, also known as the Trained Operator Card, is a card offered by the CPCS for those who are at the beginning of their career in plant operation.
This card enables an individual to work in their chosen field (under supervision) while they complete the relevant NVQ or other relevant vocational qualification.
In order to apply for this card the following requirements must be met:
The Red CPCS Trained Operator Card is valid for 2 years.
Candidates are expected to have completed their relevant NVQ qualification before the expiration of this card; however, a 12-month extension is available if the qualification is delayed (proof of relevant NVQ / SVQ registration is required for the extension to be granted).
The CPCS card is the Construction Plant Competence Scheme, and it is more in-depth than the CSCS card scheme. It is for those who work with plant machinery in construction. Just like the CSCS card, it is there to prove someone’s competency before they ever step on the construction site.
