Can you tell me more about the CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card?
If candidates currently have a CPCS Red Trained Operator card then they can progress towards this card by completing a relevant NVQ or SVQ.
If candidates already have a relevant NVQ or SVQ then they need to meet the following requirements:
A Certificate gained through the completion of the NVQ or SVQ
A Pass in the CITB health, safety & environment test within the last 2 years
A completed CPCS application form for the Blue Competent Operator Card
How can I renew a CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card?
The Blue Competent Operator Card can be renewed in order to do this candidates need to meet the following criteria:
Hold a CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card for the category which is within five years of expiry date
Pass the relevant CITB health, safety and environment test within the last two years
Pass the CPCS Renewal test for each category held*
Candidates must also have demonstrated on-going practical operating experience through a choice of routes:
A logbook recording 300 hours working on plant
A complete on-site assessment
A complete CPCS practical test

How do I get a CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card?

How do I change my Red CPCS card to Blue?
Moving from the CPCS Red Card to CPCS Blue Card When you have completed your NVQ or other vocational qualification you will be eligible to upgrade your CPCS card to the Blue Competent Operator Card. How long is the CPCS Blue Competent Card valid for?
Blue CPCS cards are valid for 5 years and you will be able to renew your card if you have passed the CITB HS&E test within the past 2 years, completed CPCS renewal tests for the categories on the card, and demonstrated on-going practical operating experience. Experience can be evidenced through an on-site assessment, a CPCS practical test, or a logbook.
