About Working at Height – Personal Fall Protection

This course can be adapted to suit the client’s requirements.

Training can be delivered on site using the client’s training room or at a convenient, suitable location.

Who should attend

This course is aimed at anyone who may be required to work or supervise others working at height or who needs familiarisation with the necessary regulations and control measures to meet the hierarchy of control for working at heights, and develop their knowledge on available personal fall protection systems, inspection process and information required for working safely, this can include ladder harness training.

Delivery

This is a classroom-based course with demonstrations and tutorials. It also includes a theory exercise in the inspection and selection of equipment.

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to provide the necessary training to be able to work in line with the Work at Height Regulations. The delegates will understand and follow the hierarchy for managing risks from work at heights and identify the requirements for using various fall protection system, which may include scaffolding, crash decking, safety nets, soft landing systems, podium steps and towers.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this training, delegates will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the Work at Height Regulations
Understand the legal requirements and responsibilities of working at height
Identify the nature and causes of hazards
Identify and source safety critical information
Explain the work at height equipment inspections frequency and procedures
Understand the importance of reporting defects

Regulations and legislation of Work at Height
Identifying causes of hazards when working at height
Implementation of the hierarchy of control
Various work at height equipment safe working practices
Work at height alternatives, including low level work equipment
Equipment selection and inspection procedures
Duties of responsible person
Theory test

Grant: Tier 1 = £60 per person (Lifetime, non-grant renewal)

If a candidate has been paid grant for a particular course in a lifetime, they will not be eligible for grant again for the same course, unless it has specific refresher standards published on the short duration course register.

If refresher course standards do exist for a particular course, then only one refresher is grant eligible in a lifetime for each candidate.
