CITB Site Safety Plus – Learning Journey

Over the next few weeks, WSS will be doing a series of blogs to talk you through the CITB Site Safety Plus (SSP) suite of courses and how this ties into the Site Safety Plus lifelong journey map.

A useful tool to explain the Site Safety Plus suite of qualifications and the levels that are suited to specific job roles.

What is Site Safety Plus?

Site Safety Plus provides the construction industry with a suite of courses for health and safety awareness and career development to help maintain a safe workforce. 

Do I need to do one of these courses?

These courses are designed to give everyone from operative to senior managers the skills, knowledge and training they need to progress within the construction industry or update and maintain existing competency. These courses include:

One-day, Directors Role for Health and Safety (DRHS) course, provides development for directors and senior managers to assist in strategic health and safety planning for organisations.

Two-day, Temporary Works Coordinator Training Course (TWCTC), provides details of the management requirements for ensuring safe construction can take place utilising temporary works and is a very popular course covering industry best practices (BS5975).

One-day, Temporary Works Supervisor Training Course (TWSTC), provides details of supervisory requirements for controlling risk with temporary works and is a popular course covering industry best practices.

One-day, Temporary Works General Awareness Training Course (TWGATC), provides a basic understanding of Temporary Works within the construction industry.

Five-day, Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course, this details the site manager’s duties and strategic management requirements within the construction industry.

Two-day, Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SMSTS-R) course, this course is for those who have previously completed the Five-day, Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course.

Two-day, Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course, this course is suitable for those requiring knowledge of industry best practices when undertaking the supervisors’ duties

One-day, Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SSSTS-R) course, this course is for those who have previously completed the Two-day Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) Course.

One-day, Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) course, which also supports those requiring the knowledge to obtain their CSCS Labourer Card.
