About the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme Refresher

Who is the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SSTS-R) course for?

The refresher course is only for delegates who have previously passed the two-day Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS-R) course or previous refresher course and can provide proof of successful prior attendance.

Why do I need this?

This course is only for those who have attended and passed a CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or previous CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme Refresher Course (SSSTS-R) and wish to retain this nationally recognised qualification.

It aims to bring your health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as give a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace, allowing you to meet your statutory requirements for keeping you, your workforce and your organisation safe.

The SSSTS-R course is endorsed by Build UK and exceeds the standard set by CITB for construction supervisors’ training.

The course aims

The SSSTS-R course aims to help site supervisors to:

  • Supervise health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions and within the context of their role
  • Develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety and welfare   on site
  • Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical, productive and environmentally friendly.

Where is this course held?

This course can be held in a classroom where we can offer dedicated courses to the organisation based at a venue of your choice or we have scheduled courses for individual bookings.

We also deliver these courses remotely via the Zoom iCloud meetings platform, no account is required to undertake this method of course delivery and assistance can be provided to support you with this, this is still an interactive way of learning the information necessary to support this role with one of our highly specialised tutors, again we can offer dedicated courses to the organisation based at a venue of your choice or we have scheduled courses for individual bookings.

How long does the SSSTS-R take to complete?

The course is held over 1 day (Total of 7.5 hours)

Will I be issued a certificate upon successful SSSTS-R completion?

Yes. On successful completion, the learner will receive an accredited digital CITB certificate. A proof of pass letter can be immediately provided if required upon receipt of the course results from the trainer.

How long is the SSSTS-R certificate valid?

The certificate is valid for 5 years.

Are there any entry requirements for SSSTS-R?

The refresher course is only for delegates who have previously passed the two-day Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) or previous one-day refresher course and can provide proof of successful attendance.

If a delegate cannot provide a copy of their certificate, the CITB online card checker can be used to establish if a delegate currently holds a valid SSSTS certificate.

If an individual cannot be located on the system and no evidence of their certificate can be found, they will have to attend the full Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course.

Failure to attend the refresher course prior to the expiry of an existing certificate will require the delegate to re-enter the scheme by completing the full two-day Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course if they wish to remain in the scheme.

Delegates must be competent in English at the site supervisor level.

Is there a CITB levy completion grant attached to this course?

Yes! There is a £70 grant attached to this course per delegate. As an ATO, we’d automatically claim this on your behalf.
