Course Information

The Working at Height course including Harness use and inspection course is aimed at anyone who may be required to work, manage, or supervise others working at height and require traing on the correct procedures for inspecting and wearing harnesses and Lanyards within the workplace, or require refresher training on the correct procedures to be followed to meet current legislation and guidance.

The purpose of the Working at Height including Harness Use and Inspection course is to develop the candidate's knowledge of the requirements of the working at heights regulation so they will be able to assess the relevant risks within their own working environment and be able to select the most appropriate equipment as per their organisation's safe systems of work, as well as how to identify faults and report them accordingly.

The course will cover inspection techniques for harness and Lanyard use including defect spotting exercises, you will go through the donning procedures for Harness use and the differing types of fall arrest and restraint systems.

This course is suitable for managers, supervisors, and operatives who may be required to work below, at, or above ground level.
Please Note:
Workforce Skills Support can supply a limited amount of Harnesses and Lanyards, but it is advisable for the delegates to bring their own equipment that they use in the workplace to enable the training to be specific to the equipment used by the delegates.

The aim of the Working at Height including Harness Use and Inspection course is to provide the necessary training to be able to work in line with the Work at Height Regulations and understand the correct procedures for wearing, using, inspections and storage of fall restraint or arrest Harnesses and lanyards. The delegates will be able to understand and follow the hierarchy for managing risks from working at heights and take the necessary steps to avoid, prevent, and minimise those risks through being able to communicate effectively and select the appropriate individual protection where collective protection is not a viable option.

Candidates whose first language is not English are welcome to attend. However, all courses are conducted, assessed/marked and certificated in English.

To successfully complete the course, candidates must have a sufficient level of English to:
