Tool Hire Product Awareness Training – Safe use of tools

Course Information

This course is designed for people who may be required to select, use, or maintain small power tools and equipment as part of workplace activities or who need familiarisation or refresher skills with the relevant regulations and practical application of skills when using power tools and equipment.

This course can be adapted to suit the client’s requirements. Training can be delivered on site using the client’s training room or at a convenient, suitable location, and it can be an awareness course (no practical) or include practical application. Please specify if a practical assessment is required when booking.
Course Requirements
Client to specify and provide types of equipment used with the organisation to ensure this will meet their specific needs, if practical application/assessment is requested, a suitable area for the practical element of the training at the client’s premises is to be provided for using the equipment and materials for practicing the use of the selected hand-held power tools (blocks, bricks, paving slabs, kerbs, steel or pipes etc.)

Attendees carrying out practical use of hand-held power tools are required to bring appropriate PPE/RPE which should include: Hard hat, Goggles (BS EN 166B rated), Hi vis vest, Safety boots, Gloves, Dust mask (FFP3 rated), Hearing Protection (minimum rated – SNR 29 dB(A)).

Candidates whose first language is not English are welcome to attend. However, all courses are conducted, assessed/marked and certificated in English.

To successfully complete the course, candidates must have a sufficient level of English to:

  • Undertake the course requirements
  • Understand the course they are registered for
  • Recognise the purpose of undertaking it

For candidates whose first language is not English, the use of a bilingual dictionary in book form (not electronic or translator devices) is permitted during assessment.
