The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Testing, Inspecting and thorough Examination Occupations (Construction) will be assessed relative to the types of Plant or equipment or machinery you currently work on, this could be a mixture of equipment and may include Excavators, dozers, graders, dumpers, rollers, forklift trucks, cranes, generators, compressors, pumps, plant trailers, quick hitches, lifting Accessories (Chains, slings, shackles etc.) small power tools (cut off saws, grinders, drills, breakers etc.), these are a few possibilities of different equipment’s that could be covered through the assessment but it is not limited to these examples.

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Testing, Inspecting, and Thorough Examination Occupations (Construction) is a nationally recognised qualification delivered through the NVQ awarding body ProQual.

It is a competence-based qualification where delegates will demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and practical competence to meet the qualification criteria in their place of work. It covers inspections such as pre-delivery inspections (PDI), off-hire inspections, post-repair inspections, daily and weekly checks, and testing on plant, machinery, or equipment systems such as electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, coolant, brakes, suspension, craneage, generator output, pumps, lifting equipment, material handling equipment, and load testing.

Thorough examinations for statutory compliance include Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations or compliance with company policies and procedures. This may also cover Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) for electrical tools and equipment.

These would be supported by photographs of the work completed, professional discussions—where the delegate will explain the sequence of work completed—and witness testimony, where your assessor will gather a peer statement of competence from either the employer, manager, supervisor, client, or colleague. This process will be supported through information, advice, and guidance (IAG) with your nominated assessor.
