Insulation is a material or system used to slow down the transfer of heat or sound between surfaces or spaces. In buildings, insulation is installed to improve thermal performance, enhance energy efficiency, reduce heating and cooling costs, and contribute to a more comfortable indoor environment.

The NVQ Level 2 in Insulation & Building Treatments covers a broad range of insulation systems depending on the pathway. Common materials and systems used in the industry include:

  • Fibreglass and mineral wool insulation rolls or slabs

  • Improve overall structural longevity
  • Support energy efficiency measures

These treatments are often applied as part of insulation installation or refurbishment work.

  • Preparing substrates and work areas
  • Measuring, marking out, and cutting insulation materials
