Qualification Structure

Candidates must achieve complete all of the required Mandatory/Optional units within one pathway. Unit Endorsements are indicated in the Pathway unit listings below.
This Pathway is for contract managers that are working as an estimator and want to show their competence. During this qualification candidates are required to show that they can appoint the correct personnel to each task. The Qualification also requires candidates to complete several mandatory units such as, Developing and Maintaining Working Relationships and Identifying, assessing and measuring requirements on construction work sites.

This Pathway is for contract managers that are working as a buyer, candidates undertaking this pathway are required to be able to display their competence in several mandatory units. These units involve the maintenance of health, safety and welfare systems. Candidates also need to understand and prove the responsibility in evaluating and sourcing the materials required for construction projects.

Optional Units - Candidates must complete one unit
This Pathway is for contract managers that work planning out work in a construction site, candidates are required to show their competence in several mandatory and optional units, these include identifying, assessing and evaluating project requirements and plan measured surveys in construction contracting operations.

This Pathway is for contract managers that work as surveyors in construction, candidates are required to show their competence in several mandatory units including their ability to plan, allocate and monitor work and also being able to specify and control production documentation. Candidates must also achieve 12 credits from the optional units.

This Pathway is for contract managers working within a general management role, this NVQ requires candidates to take a selection of optional units that would best fit their current role. Examples of these units include, Evaluating Working Methods on site, Specifying and Controlling Production Documents and Plan Measured Surveys.
