Skilled Worker: Carpenter and Joiner ( site ), Architectural Shopfitting Site or Bench Work.
Purpose
The Level 3 NVQ in Wood Occupations is for those working in Carpentry and Joinery within an Advanced role in various areas such as Site Carpentry, Architectural, Wheelwrighting, Shopfitting benches, Shopfitting Site, Structural posts and beams, and Frame Erection erection who want to prove their competence.

What this NVQ involves

Our assessor schedules the appointments with the candidate at times that work for both parties.

Since the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) are candidate-led, they can be completed swiftly once the majority of the evidence has been acquired for the proposed evidence list, a copy of which we've provided. After the evidence is gathered (by email), the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) can be completed quickly in two to three sessions, lasting a few hours each, as long as the candidate can set aside time for the professional follow-up discussion to go over all of the given evidence.

The follow-up professional discussion can be completed face-to-face or remotely.

1st visit – Induction, planning

2nd visit – discuss evidences, identify shortfall of evidences

3rd – visit – Discuss new evidences, cover shortfall in questions (if required) - completed

Candidates should be employed in a relevant carpentry and joinery role or a related wood occupation and have sufficient experience so they can gather real workplace evidence of competence for assessment. Completion of a Level 2 NVQ or equivalent experience is typical before progressing to Level 3.

    Assessment is workplace‑based and evidence‑driven. A qualified assessor will observe you in your normal job, review your portfolio of evidence (such as photographs, job records, and witness testimonies), and hold professional discussions to confirm your competence across the units relevant to your chosen pathway. There are no formal exams; assessment is based on real work activities.
