About This Course

The purpose of the Traffic Management in Construction course is to provide delegates with training on the management of vehicles and plant on a constructions site and aims at developing or refreshing skills to carry out vehicle and plant banksman duties, through the training you will be expected to identify potential hazards and be able to mitigate these to reduce the risks to both vehicles and pedestrians, the course will be suitable for managers, supervisors and those carrying out plant and vehicle marshalling duties.

Who should attend

This course is designed for people who may be required to control the movement of construction plant for site operations including the loading/unloading of vehicles, also controlling the movement of delivery and collection vehicles within the site environment.

Delivery

This is a classroom-based and on-site course with demonstrations and practical group exercises. Relevant plant and equipment controlled by operatives must be made available for practicing the controlling of plant/vehicles and inclusive of a safe environment on client’s site.

Max Delegates : 12 Face to Face
Duration : 4 – 6 Hours (dependant on delegate numbers)

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to provide knowledge and understanding of safe practices during plant/vehicle movement and identify hazards and risks associated through non-compliance with procedures, also ensure they understand their responsibilities in the safe use of vehicles on construction sites (HSG144) and workplace transport safety (INDG199).

Legal responsibilities and requirements when controlling plant/vehicles
Identification of hazards, causes and accidents with varying plant/vehicles
Preparation and planning for plant/vehicle movements
Workplace segregation procedures
Checking plant/vehicle routes and identification of proximity hazards
Clarification of plant/vehicle movements with operators/drivers
Communication procedures and signals
Group exercise in planning and implementation of vehicle movements
Theory test

If refresher course standards do exist for a particular course, then only one refresher is grant eligible in a lifetime for each candidate.
