This level 2 NVQ is a vocational qualification that assesses the competence of bricklayers in the construction industry. It is designed for those who are already working in the industry or for those who wish to start a career in bricklaying.

The Level 2 NVQ qualification covers a range of topics, such as setting out basic structures using profiles and incorporating damp-proof courses, laying bricks and blocks to line and level, repairing and maintaining masonry structures, and interpreting drawings and specifications.

The qualification is assessed through a combination of practical assessments and written assignments. Assessors will observe candidates in the workplace and evaluate their performance against a set of performance criteria. Candidates will also be required to complete written assignments to demonstrate their understanding of the theory behind the practical skills.

There are no formal entry requirements for the qualification, although candidates should be working in a relevant role in the construction industry and have the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake the qualification.

After completing the qualification, candidates can progress their career in the construction industry and take on roles such as bricklayer, stonemason, or even a site supervisor. The qualification can also lead to further study at a higher level.

Yes, you can be eligible for the CSCS Blue Skilled Workers card, as long as you have completed the relevant Operative Health and Safety Test within 2 years of applying for the card. Please contact Workforce Skills Support for further CSCS experienced and trainee card information.
