Our assessor schedules the appointments with the candidate at times that work for both parties.
Since the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Skills - Roof Slating And Tiling Occupations are candidate-led, they can be completed swiftly once the majority of the evidence has been acquired for the proposed evidence list, a copy of which we've provided. After the evidence is gathered (by email), the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Skills - Roof Slating And Tiling Occupations can be completed quickly in two to three sessions, lasting a few hours each, as long as the candidate can set aside time for the professional follow-up discussion to go over all of the given evidence.

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Skills (Construction): Roof Slating and Tiling Occupations is a vocational qualification that assesses your competence in working with traditional roofing materials and techniques for heritage buildings. It focuses on installation, repair, maintenance and conservation of historic roofs using slating and tiling skills in a real workplace environment.
This qualification is designed for experienced roof slaters and tilers, particularly those working on heritage, historic or traditional roofing projects who want formal recognition of their specialist roofing skills and craftsmanship.

There are no formal academic entry requirements. You must, however, be working in a relevant roofing role — particularly in heritage roof slating and tiling — so you can gather real workplace evidence of your competence for assessment. Useful experience in traditional roofing techniques, materials and conservation work is recommended.
Assessment is workplace-based and evidence-driven. A qualified assessor will observe your work in your normal job, review your portfolio of evidence, and have professional discussions with you. You will demonstrate practical competence in heritage roofing activities such as re-laying, replacing, repairing and maintaining traditional roof coverings and detailing. Evidence may include job records, photos of work in progress and completed tasks, and witness testimonies.
Yes. On successful completion of this qualification, you may be eligible to apply for the CSCS Gold Skilled Worker card, provided you have also passed the relevant Health, Safety & Environment test within two years of application. Workforce Skills Support can advise on the correct card route.
