The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Demolition is a vocational qualification for experienced demolition workers that formally recognises your practical competence and knowledge in demolition operations and supervision. It is designed for roles such as demolition topman operative, demolition chargehand, and demolition plant operative where you carry out and manage demolition tasks in real workplace environments.
This NVQ is suitable for people working in demolition roles including demolition topman operatives, demolition chargehands, or demolition plant operatives who want nationally recognised certification of their skills. It is ideal for those with experience in demolition who are seeking to demonstrate their competence and pursue career progression.
There are no formal academic requirements. However, you must already be working in a demolition role appropriate to the pathway you are seeking (Topman Operative, Chargehand, or Plant) and have sufficient experience so that you can collect real workplace evidence as part of the assessment.
Assessment is workplace-based and candidate-led, and may involve both on-site observation and remote evidence review. A qualified assessor will observe your demolition work, guide you in collecting evidence, conduct professional discussions, and support the compilation of a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your competence in demolition tasks and relevant supervisory duties. The process typically takes two to three visits once sufficient evidence has been provided.
Yes, you can be eligible for the CSCS Gold Skilled Workers card, as long as you have completed the relevant Operative Health and Safety Test within 2 years of applying for the card. Please contact Workforce Skills Support for further CSCS experience and trainee card information.
