The Level 2 Award in Asbestos Awareness can be adapted to suit the client’s requirements; training can be delivered on site using the client’s training room or at a convenient, suitable location.
This course is for anyone who is involved in working with asbestos. The aim of this qualification is to raise awareness of health risks associated with exposure to asbestos. Employees will have a wider understanding of who may be liable for exposure to asbestos.
Duration: Approximately 3 to 4 hours, dependent on the learner’s prior knowledge, experience, and specific learning needs.

The aim of this course is to provide anyone whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos with sufficient knowledge to avoid putting themselves or others at risk, in line with the regulatory requirements laid out in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

Aside from the grant comparison, the existing course may not be grant-eligible (if taken online) or have only a £60 grant compared to £600 for the Level 2 award.

Candidates must demonstrate the level of knowledge described in the unit; this can be covered on the day through written questioning, This element of the assessment is the process of measuring a candidate’s knowledge and understanding against the standards set in the qualification.
Practical assessment will be carried out by the tutor through observation of each delegate to ensure the qualification standards are being met.

Yes, the Level 2 Award in Asbestos Awareness is a nationally recognised qualification and is recognised by employers.
Your company will be required to make an assessment of training needs to evaluate the level of competency of their workers. HSE, other relevant codes of practice, or industry card scheme criteria recommend that the candidate complete a refresher of his/her training HSE guidance states: For awareness training, there is no need to repeat a full training course every year; however, some suitable refresher should be given, which can be provided as part of other health and safety updates.
We recommend either the IATP or UKATA annual asbestos refresher, with the option of issuing a dual certificate alongside the Level 2 Award. This approach meets common industry needs at present and gives you both the long-term, regulated qualification and the recognised site-specific certificate.
Please note your specific client requirements may differ against HSE guidance even though the Level 2 Award is a regulated, nationally recognised lifetime qualification that meets high training and compliance standards, industry practices have not yet fully caught up with this approach and they may still request for specific certification for annual refreshers from the CPD accredited schemes such as UKATA, IATP etc. Please check your client requirements for certification.
