Our assessor schedules the appointments with the candidate at times that work for both parties.
Since the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Steelfixing Occupations are candidate-led, they can be completed swiftly once the majority of the evidence has been acquired for the proposed evidence list, a copy of which we've provided. After the evidence is gathered (by email), the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Steelfixing Occupations can be completed quickly in two to three sessions, lasting a few hours each, as long as the candidate can set aside time for the professional follow-up discussion to go over all of the given evidence.
The follow-up professional discussion can be completed face-to-face or remotely.
1st visit – Induction, planning
2nd visit – discuss evidences, identify shortfall of evidences
3rd – visit – Discuss new evidences, cover shortfall in questions (if required) - completed

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Steelfixing Occupations (Construction) is a vocational qualification for experienced steel fixers working in construction. It assesses your competence in advanced steel fixing tasks such as fixing reinforcement steel to complex designs, confirming work activities and methods on site, and maintaining working relationships and health, safety and welfare — all based on real workplace performance.
This NVQ is designed for individuals already working in steelfixing roles who want formal recognition of their advanced skills and competence. It is suitable for experienced steel fixers looking to enhance career progression and demonstrate industry‑recognised competence in reinforcement fixing and related tasks.

There are no formal academic entry requirements. You should, however, already be working in a steelfixing occupation with relevant experience so that you can demonstrate your practical competence and gather evidence for assessment. Many candidates also have prior completion of the Level 2 NVQ in Steelfixing or equivalent experience before progressing to Level 3.
Assessment is workplace‑based and evidence‑driven. A qualified assessor will observe you on the job, review your portfolio of evidence, and hold professional discussions with you. You must demonstrate competence in performing steelfixing operations, interpreting drawings, planning and organising work activities, and complying with safety and industry standards through real work tasks.
Yes, you can be eligible for the CSCS Gold Skilled Workers card, as long as you have completed the relevant Operative Health and Safety Test within 2 years of applying for the card. Please contact Workforce Skills Support for further CSCS experience and trainee card information.
