What are the requirements?
CITB Courses can now be taken remotely allowing for candidates to undertake training online by working with their tutor in an online meeting in the same way they would in a classroom setting. CITB has also introduced remote courses where candidates can take training courses on their own using online resources.
The SSSTS-R is a one-day refresher course for site supervisors who have previously completed the full 2-day SSSTS course or previous refresher course. The course is designed to update candidates on changes to legislation and best practices in construction site safety.
If you hold a valid SSSTS or current SSSTS-Refresher certificate and your certificate is due to expire, you will need to take the SSSTS-R course to renew your certification and maintain this accreditation. It is recommended that you take the course within six months of your certificate's expiration date.
The SSSTS and refresher certificate are valid for five years. After that, you will need to take the SSSTS-R course to renew your certification. You can take the SSSTS-R course as many times as necessary throughout your career to renew your certification.
The SSSTS-R course covers topics such as changes to legislation, best practices in health and safety, toolbox talks, risk assessments and method statements, and site supervision and leadership.
The pass mark for the SSSTS course is 80%. Candidates who achieve a score of 80% or higher will receive a CITB certificate of achievement; this will also be recorded on the CITB online Card Checker system.
The SSSTS-R certificate is valid for five years. After five years, candidates will need to complete the SSSTS Refresher course to renew their certificate.
No, you must have attended a previous 2-day SSSTS course or previous 2-day refresher course to be eligible to attend a 1-day refresher course, and you must have valid certification of previous attendance that hasn’t expired.
All course material will be provided when you have successfully booked onto the course; this will include the CITB GE706 Construction Site Supervision and GT700 Toolbox Talks, which are included in our course cost.
The Health and Safety in Construction Site Supervisor refresher course is eligible for a Tier 2 Refresher Grant that can be claimed for the same candidate multiple times over a candidates lifetime and has no maximum amount of claims.
