Since the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Steel Fixing Occupations (Construction) are candidate-led, they can be completed swiftly once the majority of the evidence has been acquired for the proposed evidence list, a copy of which we've provided. There are no specific formal academic requirements for this qualification. You must be employed in a steel fixing role and regularly carrying out relevant tasks on site so that you can generate real workplace evidence for assessment. Some prior experience of steel fixing work is recommended to complete the qualification efficiently.
Assessment is workplace‑based and focuses on practical, on‑the‑job performance. A qualified assessor will observe you carrying out steel fixing tasks in your normal work environment and review your portfolio of evidence, which may include photos, written records, and other documentation demonstrating your competence. There are no traditional exams; the qualification is assessed through real workplace activities.
Yes, you can be eligible for the CSCS Blue Skilled Workers card, as long as you have completed the relevant Operative Health and Safety Test within 2 years of applying for the card. Please contact Workforce Skills Support for further CSCS experience and trainee card information.
