At Workforce Skills Support, we take immense pride in our role as one of the UK’s leading construction training providers. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond just delivering training; it’s about making a tangible difference in people’s lives. That’s why we are thrilled to share the story of our partnership with Dragon Heart Homes—a collaboration that embodies our core values of empowerment, education, and social responsibility.
In the heart of our journey lies the belief that education is the key to unlocking opportunities and transforming communities. When Dragon Heart Homes approached us in January with a vision to empower their workforce, we saw an opportunity to make a real impact. Dragon Heart Homes, renowned for manufacturing modular houses to house the homeless, sought to not only address the housing crisis but also support the rehabilitation of day-release prisoners, offering them a chance at a brighter future.
Mark Cayton, the Operations Manager at Dragon Heart Homes, shared his vision of providing formal qualifications to their workforce. Recognising the importance of skills development and motivation, Cayton aimed to equip their team members, including day-release prisoners and team leaders, with the tools they needed to succeed both personally and professionally.
Following a phone call with Mark Clayton, we arranged a meeting to visit the factory as we understand this is such a specialist product and job and knew we needed to see the products before we delivered the specific training they required.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to walk around the workshop floor and were shown each section of the production line. Witnessing firsthand how each section was made and how it seamlessly moved down the line to create the modular buildings provided invaluable insight. This hands-on experience allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved in the manufacturing process, ensuring that our training would be tailored to meet the specific needs of Dragon Heart Homes’ workforce.
As we prepare to deliver these specialised training programmes, our visit to the factory reinforced our commitment to providing high-quality education and support to our partners. We are dedicated to equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their roles, ultimately making a positive impact on both their personal and professional lives.
Our partnership with Dragon Heart Homes exemplifies our dedication to creating pathways for individuals to thrive in the construction industry. By tailoring our training solutions to meet the unique needs of Dragon Heart Homes’ workforce, we ensured that each individual received the support and guidance necessary to reach their full potential.
For the day-release prisoners working at Dragon Heart Homes, our collaboration offered more than just training—it provided hope and a second chance. Through formal qualifications like the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction using Off-site Manufactured Assemblies – Pathway 3 Modular and Portable building, we equipped these individuals with the skills and credentials needed to reintegrate into society and build a better future for themselves.
Furthermore, our support extended to the team leaders at Dragon Heart Homes, recognising their vital role in driving success within the organisation. By offering specialised training in leadership and supervision such as the Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Work Supervision, we empowered these individuals to effectively manage their teams while maintaining their technical expertise.
We are proud to announce that we are carrying out the NVQ in batches, including three Level 3 NVQs in Occupational Work Supervision and four Level 2 NVQ Diplomas in Construction using Off-site Manufactured Assemblies – specifically, Pathway 3 Modular and Portable Building. As we prepare to roll out these qualifications, we are currently in discussions about conducting the next batch of NVQs in the coming weeks.
The impact of our partnership goes beyond the workshop floor; it’s about creating lasting change and fostering a sense of empowerment within communities. By providing individuals with the tools and resources they need to succeed, we’re not just building houses—we’re building brighter futures.
As we celebrate the success of our partnership with Dragon Heart Homes, we’re reminded of the power of collaboration in driving positive change. Together, we’ve shown that by investing in education and empowerment, we can transform lives and build a better world for all. Join us as we continue on this journey of empowerment, one qualification at a time.
