The course covers topics such as health and safety regulations, pre-use checks, setting up and positioning the boom, operating procedures, maintenance requirements, and emergency procedures.
Prior experience in operating concrete placing booms is beneficial but not mandatory. The course is designed to cater to both novices and experienced operators.
The assessment includes a theory test and a practical test. The theory test assesses the candidate's knowledge of safety regulations and operational procedures, while the practical test evaluates their ability to operate the equipment safely and efficiently.
Participants should bring personal protective equipment (PPE), such as a hard hat, safety boots, and high-visibility clothing. You may also need to bring identification and any relevant certification cards.

To achieve the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, candidates must pass both the CSCS touch screen H+S test (within the last 2 years) and the CPCS Theory Test and the Practical Test.

To upgrade the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, you will have to achieve, within 2 years, the relevant NVQ.
