Purpose
This insulation training NVQ is for those who work with different types of insulation and building treatments and want to prove their competence in the following areas: Room in Roof, Park Homes, Hybrid Wall, Insulating Framed Sections of Buildings, External Wall Insulation Boarder, External Wall Insulation Finisher, External Wall Insulation Boarder and Finisher, Internal Insulation (Walls).

What this NVQ involves

Our assessor schedules the appointments with the candidate at times that work for both parties.

Since the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Insulation & Building Treatments are candidate-led, they can be completed swiftly once the majority of the evidence has been acquired for the proposed evidence list, a copy of which we've provided. After the evidence is gathered (by email), the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Insulation & Building Treatments can be completed quickly in two to three sessions, lasting a few hours each, as long as the candidate can set aside time for the professional follow-up discussion to go over all of the given evidence.

The follow-up professional discussion can be completed face-to-face or remotely.

1st visit – Induction, planning

2nd visit – discuss evidences, identify shortfall of evidences

3rd – visit – Discuss new evidences, cover shortfall in questions (if required) - completed

    There are no formal academic entry requirements for this NVQ. You should, however, be employed in a role where you carry out insulation and building treatment tasks so that you can gather real workplace evidence for assessment. Experience in advanced insulation techniques and treatments is recommended to complete the qualification successfully.

    Assessment is workplace‑based and may include one to three visits from a qualified assessor. It involves observation of your practical work, professional discussions, review of a portfolio of evidence, and confirmation of competence in the specific tasks and units you complete as part of your normal work role. Evidence might include photos, job sheets, method statements, and other documentation demonstrating your ability to meet national occupational standards.

    Yes, you can be eligible for the CSCS Gold Skilled Workers card, as long as you have completed the relevant Operative Health and Safety Test within 2 years of applying for the card. Please contact Workforce Skills Support for further CSCS experience and trainee card information.
