  • Name and explain the purpose of principal components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
  • Conform with manufacturer’s requirements as per the operator’s handbook, other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation
  • Undertake all pre-use checks
  • Configure and ready for travel
  • Travel over rough, undulating ground
  • Manoeuvre plant in confined spaces
  • Position, configure and set for driven works
  • Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
  • Accurately install displacement piles to completion
  • Comply with signals and instructions
  • Maintain safe working situations
  • Explain plant lifting requirements and limitations using a piling rig
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures
  • Explain the de-rigging, loading and unloading procedures for machine transporting

If a candidate has been granted a grant for a particular course in their lifetime, they will not be eligible for grant again for the same course unless it has specific refresher standards published on the short-duration course register.

If refresher course standards do exist for a particular course, then only one refresher course is eligible in a lifetime for each candidate.

Yes, the course includes practical training where participants will operate soil stabiliser machinery under the supervision of an instructor.
Assessment typically includes both a written theory test and a practical test where candidates demonstrate their ability to operate the machinery safely and effectively.
Generally, candidates should have some prior experience in operating construction machinery. It is also beneficial to have a basic understanding of health and safety practices on construction sites.
Participants should bring personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a hard hat, a high-visibility vest, safety boots, and gloves. It’s also advisable to bring a notepad and pen for taking notes during the theory sessions.

To achieve the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, candidates must pass both the CSCS touch screen H+S test (within the last 2 years) and the CPCS Theory Test and the Practical Test.

To upgrade the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card, you will have to achieve, within 2 years, the relevant NVQ.
