Learning Outcomes

Here is a brief overview of the content of training.

Name and explain the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
Conform with manufacturers requirements as per the operators handbook, other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation
Undertake all pre-use checks
Configure and set the relevant plant equipment for travel
Travel over rough, undulating ground and level surfaces
Manoeuvre in confined spaces
Configure and set for screening duties to produce aggregate to specified sizes
Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services

Screen different types of materials into graded sizes
Sort materials into graded sizes
Control and maintain the work flow rate
Use appropriate communication procedures before and during work
Explain procedures for blockages and foreign object removal
Clean down the machine and working area
Carry out shut down and securing procedures
Explain the loading, unloading and machine disassembly procedures for machine transporting

Please note: There is a cap on how many times an employer can claim a short-duration course achievement grant. Check the CITB website for information on the number of claims allowed based on your last levy return.

If a candidate has been granted a grant for a particular course in their lifetime, they will not be eligible for grant again for the same course unless it has specific refresher standards published on the short-duration course register.

If refresher course standards do exist for a particular course, then only one refresher course is eligible in a lifetime for each candidate.

Participants should bring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety boots, a hard hat, and high-visibility clothing.

To achieve the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card candidates must pass both the CSCS touch screen H+S test (within the last 2 years) and the CPCS Theory Test and the Practical Test.
