Learning Outcomes

Here is a brief overview of the content of training.
  • Name and explain the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
  • Conform with manufacturers requirements as per the operators handbook, other types of information source and relevant regulations and legislation
  • Undertake all pre-use checks
  • Configure and set the relevant plant equipment for travel
  • Travel over rough, undulating ground and level surfaces
  • Manoeuvre in confined spaces
  • Configure and set for screening duties to produce aggregate to specified sizes
  • Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
  • Screen different types of materials into graded sizes
  • Sort materials into graded sizes
  • Control and maintain the work flow rate
  • Use appropriate communication procedures before and during work
  • Explain procedures for blockages and foreign object removal
  • Clean down the machine and working area
  • Carry out shut down and securing procedures
  • Explain the loading, unloading and machine disassembly procedures for machine transporting

If a candidate has been granted a grant for a particular course in their lifetime, they will not be eligible for grant again for the same course unless it has specific refresher standards published on the short-duration course register.

If refresher course standards do exist for a particular course, then only one refresher course is eligible in a lifetime for each candidate.

Participants should bring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety boots, a hard hat, and high-visibility clothing.

To achieve the Red CPCS Trained Operator Card candidates must pass both the CSCS touch screen H+S test (within the last 2 years) and the CPCS Theory Test and the Practical Test.
