The CITB Fairness, Inclusion and Respect Awareness Course is a construction industry training programme designed to help workers, supervisors, managers, and employers create safer, more inclusive, and respectful workplaces in conjunction with the Equality Act. The course focuses on reducing discrimination, unconscious bias, bullying, harassment, and inappropriate behaviour while promoting equality, diversity, and teamwork across the construction sector.

As the construction industry continues to improve workplace culture, the FIR Awareness Course has become an increasingly valuable qualification for organisations committed to creating positive working environments.

The course aims of the CITB Fairness, Inclusion and Respect Awareness Course are to promote positive workplace cultures for construction workers, supervisors, managers, and employers with the knowledge and understanding needed to create workplaces where everyone is treated fairly, included, and respected. The course encourages positive behaviours that improve teamwork, safety, and productivity while helping organisations meet their legal and ethical responsibilities.

No, participants are not expected to feel obliged or pressured to share any information or experiences that they are not entirely happy to volunteer.

Differences of opinion may be inevitable within some of the discussion-based exercises, but with a potentially emotive subject such as sexual orientation, it is important that participants agree that while it is okay to disagree, expressing ideas hurtfully or in the form of personal attacks is not acceptable and sensitive information will remain private and will not be repeated.

The Fairness, Inclusion and Respect Awareness course is suitable for all employees. 

Candidates whose first language is not English are welcome to attend. However, all courses are conducted, assessed/marked and certificated in English.

To successfully complete the course, candidates must have a sufficient level of English to:

  • Undertake the course requirements
  • Understand the course they are registered for
  • Recognise the purpose of undertaking it

For candidates whose first language is not English, the use of a bilingual dictionary in book form (not electronic or translator devices) is permitted during assessment.

Yes, this course may be eligible for funding, we can help you access Employer Networks funding.

Yes - all attendees will receive a Certificated by Workforce Skills Support as a CITB Training Provider Network (TPN) Member against the relevant CITB Training Standard upon successful completion of the course.
