This package is ideal for groundworkers who already have experience operating plant equipment.
What’s Included – £1,500 + VAT Per Person
- Level 2 NVQ in Groundworks
- Must be either carrying out Concreting or Drainage works
- Plant NVQ – choose 2 categories:
- Ride-on Roller
- Forward Tipping Dumper – Wheeled
- If only one is selected, you may substitute with:
- 360 Excavator
- Rear Tipping Dumper
How It Works
Stage 1 – Book & Begin NVQs
- Pay £2,400 + VAT upfront for 4 candidates.
- NVQs are assessed on-site while operatives carry out normal duties.
- The NVQ assessor collects evidence in real-time and supports the candidates.
- Upon completion:
- £1,500 CITB grant claimed per person
- A completion invoice is raised (£900 + VAT per person), payable only after the CITB grants are received.
Total Cost
- £6000 + VAT in total (£1500 per person for 4 candidates)
- This cost is fully recoverable through the £1,500 CITB Achievement grant per person
Stage 2 – NPORS Competence Tests
- NPORS testing takes place once the NVQ is complete or nearly complete.
- The assessor will arrange test dates at your site using the plant and equipment you provide on the day.
- Tests are exam-style assessments (not training) under formal conditions.
- Minimum of 4 candidates required on the same site and date.
- Full guidance is provided for setting up the site for NPORS testing.
- The category and endorsement awarded will be based on the machine available at the time of testing.
- If test conditions are not met and additional testing dates are required, or if a candidate fails the test, a retest will be required at a later date.
- In either case, additional charges will apply and will be discussed with you should this situation arise.
About the NPORS Tests
- Practical only – candidates must demonstrate safe, competent operation of plant.
- Tests are conducted strictly under NPORS testing standards.
- Prior plant experience is required – no training is included in this offer.
After the Test
Once candidates have passed their tests:
- We apply for each operator’s NPORS card.
- If the candidate has a valid Operatives HS&E Test (within 2 years):
- An NPORS CSCS-Affiliated Card & CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card is issued.
- If not:
- A Traditional NPORS card is issued.
- Candidates can later upgrade to CSCS-affiliated NPORS & CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card for £60 after passing the HS&E Test.
Eligibility Criteria
This fully funded offer is available to:
- Experienced Groundworkers operating plant
- CITB-Registered Employers with levy return up to date
- Candidates who:
- Have not previously claimed a Level 2 Plant NVQ grant
- Are not at the Level 2 grant cap (we will check this for you)
- Hold an in-date Operatives HS&E Test (required for the CSCS card)
