Yes – IATP (Independent Asbestos Training Providers) Asbestos Awareness and UKATA (UK Asbestos Training Association) Asbestos Awareness courses both meet the HSE’s legal requirements under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. The difference is not in the training quality itself, but in how widely each is recognised by contractors.
Some companies or main contractors insist on “UKATA only” because it is a well-known brand in the construction industry and may be written into their site induction or pre-qualification requirements.
