An NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) in Supervising Licensed Asbestos is a professional qualification designed for individuals who supervise or manage work involving licensed asbestos materials. It provides the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices in the safe handling, removal, and disposal of asbestos.
The NVQ is suitable for individuals who work in roles such as site supervisors, project managers, or contract managers where they are responsible for overseeing asbestos-related activities. It is specifically designed for those who work with licensed asbestos, which requires a higher level of expertise and control measures compared to non-licensed asbestos work.
The specific entry requirements may vary depending on the training provider, but generally, applicants should have relevant industry experience in asbestos-related work. It is recommended to have already completed the NVQ L2 Removal of Hazardous Waste (Construction) – Licensed Asbestos or possess equivalent qualifications.
Assessment for the NVQ is primarily based on the candidate's performance in the workplace. It involves gathering evidence of the candidate's skills, knowledge, and competence through on-the-job observations, work-based projects, professional discussions, and the creation of a portfolio of evidence. The assessment process is usually carried out by a qualified assessor from an accredited training provider.
No, the NVQ does not typically involve formal written exams. The assessment is based on practical, work-based evidence and the compilation of a portfolio that demonstrates the candidate's competence and understanding of the required skills.
