The NPORS N211 Static Concrete Pump course provides safety knowledge and practical training in the safe use of concrete pumps (truck-mounted or static). To provide both theoretical and practical training to ensure the safe usage of an excavator, including safe and efficient operation.

Learning Outcomes

Here is a brief overview of the content of training.
  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Concrete Pump use
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
  • Prepare the Concrete Pump for use, operate machinery safely and efficiently
  • Safe un-blocking and re-connecting procedures
  • Environmental considerations
  • Storage and transport of implements and attachments
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

If a candidate has been granted a grant for a particular course in their lifetime, they will not be eligible for grant again for the same course unless it has specific refresher standards published on the short-duration course register.

If refresher course standards do exist for a particular course, then only one refresher course is eligible in a lifetime for each candidate.

This highly interactive practical and classroom-based training course concludes with practical assessment and theory tests, demonstrating the candidate’s full understanding of the training.
Novice Operator: 5 Days, maximum of 3 candidates

Experienced Operator: 1 Day test only, maximum of 6 candidates

Location: Nationwide Delivery on-site
There are no formal prerequisites for this course. However, participants should have a basic understanding of health and safety regulations and be physically fit to handle the demands of operating a concrete pump.
Participants should bring suitable personal protective equipment (PPE), such as a hard hat, safety boots, a hi-visibility vest, and gloves.
Competency is assessed through a combination of practical assessments and a theoretical test. Participants must demonstrate their ability to safely and effectively operate the concrete pump and answer questions related to its operation and safety.

For entrants that wish to apply for the NPORS Traditional Card, there is no requirement to have an NVQ qualification. If the "HS&E TESTED Logo" is required on the card, entrants must ensure they have attended and passed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety, and Environment Test within the two years prior to application for the card and will have to achieve, within 2 years, the relevant NVQ.
