WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This half-day training course is designed for any employee who may have a responsibility for fire procedures within their organisation. Fire Marshal/Warden Training is essential to ensure that employees who are designated as a Fire Warden or Fire Marshal understand their role and their duties within the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

This course can be adapted to suit the client’s requirements. Training can be delivered on site using the client’s training room or at a convenient, suitable location. The client should provide a suitable area for the practical use of extinguishers.

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of fire safety, the associated legislation, and the roles and responsibilities of their duties as fire marshals and wardens, and to be able to use firefighting equipment safely.

On completion of this training, delegates will be able to:
  • Understand the relevant Regulations relating to fires and emergencies
  • Identify hazards and causes of fires and injuries in the workplace
  • Understand responsibilities in the event of a fire
  • Responsibilities of the Fire Warden/Marshal
  • Building construction, relevant law, built-in fire protection within buildings
  • Actions on hearing a fire alarm
  • Evacuation procedures, including fire muster points and roll calls
  • Fire safety checks, reasons for combustion
  • Types of fire (classification of fire)
  • Fulfil duties for inspections of firefighting equipment, escape routes and lighting
  • To support others in the evacuation procedure
  • To select and use appropriate firefighting equipment

Candidates whose first language is not English are welcome to attend. However, all courses are conducted, assessed/marked and certificated in English.

To successfully complete the course, candidates must have a sufficient level of English to:

  • Undertake the course requirements
  • Understand the course they are registered for
  • Recognise the purpose of undertaking it

For candidates whose first language is not English, the use of a bilingual dictionary in book form (not electronic or translator devices) is permitted during assessment.
