This Mental Health Awareness course will provide an overview of mental health issues and illnesses, including methods of support that are available within the UK.

This course can be adapted to suit the client’s requirements. Training can be delivered on site using the client’s training room or at a convenient, suitable location.

Remote closed session – Live tutor-led via Microsoft Teams or Zoom
In-house classroom delivery – We come to your site

What are the requirements?

To take part in a remote tutor-led course, you’ll need:

  • Laptop or computer with a working camera – you must remain visible to the tutor throughout the session
  • Microphone and speakers – to interact with the tutor and other delegates
  • Reliable internet connection – essential for participating in the full course
  • Email address – to receive course materials and exam instructions
  • Photographic ID – such as a driving licence or passport
  • Access to Zoom or Microsoft Teams – a meeting link will be sent prior to the course

The purpose of this standard is to provide candidates with the knowledge to recognise mental health issues developing and start practical mental health conversations.

Here is a brief overview of the content of training and learning outcomes.
  • How to communicate positively, confidently and respectfully about mental health with others in the workplace
  • General understanding of factors that affect mental health, including stress
  • Defining mental health and some mental health issues including: depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis, eating disorders, suicide and self-harm
  • How to recognise and respond to early warning signs of mental health issues
  • Addressing and reducing stigma and discrimination around mental health issues
  • How to look after your own mental health
  • How to use tools to begin supportive mental health conversations such as: take 10 together
  • Awareness of appropriate sources of support and information

Candidates whose first language is not English are welcome to attend. However, all courses are conducted, assessed/marked and certificated in English.

To successfully complete the course, candidates must have a sufficient level of English to:

  • Undertake the course requirements
  • Understand the course they are registered for
  • Recognise the purpose of undertaking it

For candidates whose first language is not English, the use of a bilingual dictionary in book form (not electronic or translator devices) is permitted during assessment.

Yes – all attendees will receive a CITB ATO Workforce Skills Support Certification upon successful completion of the course. 

While it is not a regulated qualification, it is designed to meet industry needs and support workforce development.
